Aspergilloma in an Immunocompetent Host: A Case Report

Aspergillosis is a serious pathologic condition caused by Aspergillus that commonly affects immunocompromised patients. In recent years, it has been demonstrated infection can cause wide spectrum of pulmonary diseases, including allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, chronic necrotizing aspergilloma, and invasive aspergillosis. The characteristic computed tomography (CT) findings the various manifestations are illustrated reviewed in this case report. niger an infrequent lungs severely immunosuppressed paper, we report 50-year-old female with well-controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus who presented to emergency department history shortness breath, cough, weight loss. She denied any use immunosuppressive medications. High-resolution CT revealed large right upper lung cavitary lesion, sputum examination bronchoalveolar lavage positive galactomannan. conclusion, immunocompetent hosts rarely affected aspergilloma cavities. We recommend conducting retrospective data registry on unreported cases patients understand clinicopathological behavior improve management.
